Jumping Jack Press Introduces Silly Skeletons

NEW YORK – Jumping Jack Press, the pop-up book imprint from Up With Paper, unveiled its new Halloween book, Silly Skeletons, at the National Stationery Show today.

The nine-inch square book includes five whimsical spreads, each featuring impressive paper engineering and endearing artwork, all tied together with a fun story about the Halloween night adventures of two friendly skeletons and their dog.  The book has a suggested retail price of $19.99, and is available open stock or in a 10-book counter corrugate.

Silly Skeletons is the thirteenth title, and third Halloween book, from Jumping Jack Press, and again pairs author Janet Lawler and illustrator Anna Chambers, who provided their creative talent to the imprint’s last Halloween title, Silly Ghosts.  Paper engineer Renee Jablow returns for a fourth Jumping Jack book.  The new book was produced under the Art Direction of Up With Paper Vice President and Creative Director, Monika Brandrup.

The headlining skeletons in Silly Skeletons made their first appearance in 2012 on Up With Paper’s best-selling Halloween Treasures pop-up card, which inspired Lawler’s story.  Chambers created the characters on the card, and then expanded their adventures to match Lawler’s story.  Jablow’s clever paper engineering brings artwork and story to life.

“The Silly Skeletons were so successful on a card, we knew they could carry their own book,” said Jumping Jack Press President George White, who served as Executive Editor on the book.  “Janet Lawler did a great job converting our vision for the characters—are they real skeletons or just children wearing the greatest costumes ever—into

into a story to which kids of all ages can relate, and Anna Chambers’ cute art style is ideal for the tale.  Renee Jablow’s creative paper engineering completes the package in what is destined to be a pop-up classic.”
