NEW YORK – Up With Paper, the world’s leading marketer of innovative three-dimensional greeting cards, unveiled new designs for its rapidly growing Sight ‘n Sound greeting card lineat the 2011 National Stationery Show today.  The new line, introduced at the 2010 Show, is the first everyday pop-up card line with push-button sound effects, and has enjoyed tremendous success since shipping to retail in January with 29 designs.
Each 5x7-inch Sight ‘n Sound card folds flat in an envelope for mailing, pops up with a built-in base for display purposes, and includes a push-button activated sound effect that complements the card design.  The line, which is available exclusively in the specialty card and gift market, includes multiple message stickers for most cards, and these stickers and all envelopes for the line are printed on recycled paper produced from post-consumer waste.  The cards may be merchandised in Up With Paper’s permanent and temporary fixtures, or in-line in any greeting card fixture, and have an SRP of $7.99.

New designs unveiled at the show, and shipping to retail later this month, include designs featuring a Cannibal, a bicycle, and the word “Congratulations.” Each design includes pop-ups and dimensional paper engineering, and a complementary sound effect, such as a tribal beat and a bicycle bell

“We have been very gratified by the industry response to these amazing Sight ‘n Sound cards,” said Monika Brandrup, vice president and creative director of Up With Paper, who led the development of the line.  “Retailers throughout the US, as well as in Canada, Europe, and Japan, have reported terrific consumer reaction to the unique combination of design, embellishments, and sound featured on each card.  In addition, Sight ‘n Sound cards make such a great display item on a kitchen counter or office desk, providing the type of long-lasting impact with which fans of our other brands are familiar.”

Up With Paper has enjoyed success with the inclusion of sound chips in its pop-up greeting cards, not only with the new Sight ‘n Sound line, but also in seasonal Panoramics cards.  First tested in 2009, during which unit and dollar sales of sound cards increased by double-digit margins over non-sound cards in the same program, pull tab-activated sound cards now comprise about half of the company’s 2011 Halloween and Christmas Panoramics offering.

Originally founded as PopShots, Inc., in 1978, Up With Paper has been recognized for design excellence more than 55 times with the International Greeting Card Association’s highest honor, the “LOUIE” award, including the “Card of the Year” LOUIE Award in 2005.  Up With Paper’s Panoramics, Treasures, Sight ‘n Sound, and Tres Panache® lines of pop-up greeting cards, as well as the company’s Tres Panache Imprintables, Trinkets® and Tres Petites® gift enclosures, , Pop-Up Snow Globe Greetings®, Boxed Notes, Pop-Up Notepads, and Jumping Jack Press® pop-up booksare available in thousands of specialty retail outlets throughout the United States and around the world, and may be seen on the company’s website at
