US Postal Service Introduces New Stamp to Cover Square Card Postage 64-cent Butterfly stamp can be used on Treasures and Turning Points cards
On May 17, 2010, the US Postal Service issued a 64-cent Monarch Butterfly stamp, the first in a series of Butterfly stamps that cover First Class postage for square and other “non-machinable” envelopes weighing one ounce or less.  This new stamp covers the necessary postage for square envelopes, like those used for Up With Paper’s Treasures and Turning Points cards (as long as no additional items are added to the envelopes, as additional weight increases the required postage). Each time postage rates change, the US Postal Service will release a new stamp in the series—always a butterfly, and always carrying sufficient postage for square cards.

This stamp was introduced as a result of several years of collaborative efforts between the Postal Service and the Greeting Card Association’s Postal Affairs Committee, which is chaired by George White, president of Up With Paper.  George participated in the stamp dedication and First Day of Issue ceremony, which was held at the National Stationery Show. His remarks may be found here
To make it as easy as possible for consumers and postal service employees to mail our square cards, Up With Paper is including a butterfly icon on all Treasures and Turning Points envelopes, letting consumers and postal service employees alike know that a butterfly stamp is all that is needed to cover postage.  No more waiting in line at the Post Office, and no more uncertainty as to the correct postage.
Up With Paper appreciates the efforts of the Postal Service to make it simpler and easier to mail square cards like ours.
